Titl: Youth Counsellor and Motivator
Overview: Department of Home’s Youth Empowerment Support (YES) program seeks a Youth Counsellor/Motivator to provide counselling and motivational support to unemployed Tibetan youths in various Tibetan Settlements in India.

Host Institute Information: The Department of Home (Nangsi) looks after the socio-economic welfare of the Tibetans in exile living in 26 agriculture settlements, 20 handicraft-industrial based settlements and 12 scattered settlements in India, Nepal and Bhutan through Tibetan Settlement Offices. The YES program seeks to empower unemployed Tibetan youth through counselling, imparting skills training and providing small start-up loans to set up micro-enterprises. Training is provided at the department’s Institute for Small Trade Learning (ISTL) near Bangalore.
Role: The Youth Counsellor and Motivator will work with the YES team in providing youth counselling and motivation program to unemployed Tibetan youths in Tibetan settlements in India. The person will promote personal and social development of young people so that they can be healthy, develop good attitude and make a positive contribution. The work will entail befriending and supporting individuals in various settings; mentoring; assessing the needs of young people; offering counselling; and working with parents and community groups The position involves frequent travel with program staff to various Tibetan settlements in India and Nepal |

Requirement: A current college student or someone with a Bachelors or higher degree. Interest or skills in areas that may interest young people, such as sports or the arts. Excellent communication and listening skills. Tact and sensitivity. Good organizational skills. The ability to relate to people from all backgrounds, and build good relationships.
